Heart Granny Square
This is a pattern by Hooked by Robin. It is pretty much the exact pattern, but I have changed it so that there is fewer end to weave in and so that it has a different number of rounds that are made.

This pattern is not my pattern.
This pattern uses the magic ring (MR), triple crochet stitches (tr), double crochet stitches (dc), single crochet stitches (sc), chain stitches (ch), and slip stitches (sl st).....so basically all of the basic stitches.
This pattern is not worked in continuous rounds.
Gauge is not important. You can control the gauge of the finished piece with the size or yarn you use and the hook you use.
Materials and Tools:
You will need one color of yarn for the heart and a second color for the square around the heart. How much you will need depends on the weight of the yarn you are using and the size of your hook.

Heart:
MR
Round 1: ch 3, 2 dc into MR, ch3, 3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc, ch3, join to top of beginning ch 3 with a sl st
Round 2: sl st into the next two st (the two dc before the first corner) and into the ch 3 sp, ch 3, 2 dc, ch 3, 3 dc into the same ch sp, [3dc, ch 3, 3 dc] in the ch sps all the way around, join to the top of the beginning ch 3 with a sl st
Round 3: sl st into the next two st and into the ch 3 sp, ch 1 (does not count as a st), 12 tr into the sp between the ch 3 sps, sl st into the ch 3 sp, 12 tr into the sp between the ch 3 sps, sl st into the ch 3 sp

If you wish to make just the heart you will ch 1 and cut your yarn here.
Making the Heart Square:
Round 1: sl st across the 3 dc (one sl st into each dc), sl st into the sp between the ch 3 sp, ch 1 (does not count as a st), sc in the same sp, ch 3, sc into the same sp again,
ch 6,
sk the ch 3 sp (that will be the bottom point of the heart) sc into the sp between the ch 3 sps, ch 3, sc into the same sp,
ch 6,
find the 6th tr made (or the one in the center) and working into the bottom of the back of the st (look at the picture) sc, ch 3, sc into the same place but in the next st,
ch 6,
sc into the bottom of the 6th tr, ch 3, sc into the bottom of the next tr,
ch 6,
sl st into the first sc made, ch 1 and cut your yarn

With second color of yarn

Round 2: With the right side of the heart facing you, put your hook into the ch 3 sp on the right that is not behind the tr sts make a sl st with your yarn and put it in your hook (look at the pictures), ch 4 (counts as your first dc and a ch 2), 3 dc in same sp,
*ch 1, 3 dc, around the ch 6, ch 1, [3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc] into the ch 3 sp* repeat from * to * ending with 2 dc into the ch 3 sp where you started, join with a sl st into the 2nd ch of the beginning ch 4, sl st into the ch sp
Round 3: ch 4(counts as first dc and ch 2), 3 dc into the same sp, *ch 1, 3 dc in ch sp, ch 1, 3dc into ch sp, ch 1 [3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc} into the corner sp* repeat from * to * ending with 2 dc back where you started, join with a sl st into the 2nd ch of the beginning ch 4, sl st into the ch sp
Round 4: ch 4(counts as first dc and ch 2), 3 dc into same sp, *ch 1, 3 dc into ch sp, ch 1, 3 dc into the ch sp, ch 1, 3 dc into the ch sp, ch 1, [3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc] into the corner sp* repeat from * to * with 2 dc back where you started, join with a sl st into the 2nd ch of the beginning ch 4, ch 1 and cut yarn
Weave in your ends
If you wish to make your square bigger you can just keep adding rounds buting 3 dc into the ch 1 sps and making corners in the ch 2 sps.
