Resin Work

Writer's picture: MysticGirlCreationsMysticGirlCreations

Hello Crafty People!!! I have been working with resin which is something I have never worked with before. I have a few projects under my belt now, but I am by far not an expert. I have had some wins and I have had some fails, but I am not done learning.

I have a few projects that I would like to share with you. The first project is one that I had high hopes for.... but it didn't turn out like I wanted it to. We have kids and animals so to keep little fingers and pet hair out of the project I thought "Hey let's put it outside to keep it safe". Bad idea. I at least should have checked the weather because it was windy, and my project paid the price. As the resin cured it cured around everything the wind blew into it. Everything. Since I chose a color that was transparent you can see everything it picked up and all the bubbles. It didn't turn out as I planned but I still like the project. I can always remake it and NOT put it outside or at the very least cover it while it is outside.

This is a project I'm working on for my sister. This is not the finished product because I want it to be a surprise for her. I love the way the two colors work together. I know you might not be able to see it in the picture, but it has two different shades of the same color in it. One is just slightly lighter than the other so that it adds depth to the project. Once she gets the finished product at Christmas, I will post the finished pictures.

This next one I love the way it turned out. I love the way the colors moved and shifted and did their own thing. I think it turned out really great even though it didn't turn out the way I thought it was. I'm excited to try this with some different color to see how they turn out. Honestly it turned out better than I thought it would and I can't wait to make some more coasters with this mold.

This is the last project I have to show. It's another coaster set, and I really like the way this one turned out as well. Having said that I also have found thing I think I could do differently. I think using a paint marker could make the bee really pop on the coaster holder in a way that using mica didn't. I'm also thinking of maybe doing a dark color on the back so that the colors are not completely see though the way it is in some places.

These are all of the projects that I made with the resin that I had. When I get more resin, I will make more things. I have so many ideas I can't wait to show you what I come up with.
